Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
ToolNest strives for minimal data footprint. We do not use first-party tracking cookies. This policy explains what client-side storage we use today and how third-party advertising cookies will be governed when advertising is activated.
1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or mobile device when visiting websites. Similar technologies include web storage (such as HTML5 localStorage and sessionStorage), which allow web applications to store preferences locally on your device without transmitting those values in HTTP request headers to a server.
2. What ToolNest Uses Currently
ToolNest does not directly set any tracking or profiling cookies. The only client-side storage currently utilized by the core application is:
| Identifier | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| toolnest-theme | localStorage | Remembers your choice of light or dark theme mode | Persistent until cleared |
This key is strictly local to your browser and is never sent across the network to any server.
3. Third-Party Advertising & Future Cookies
ToolNest has prepared integration hooks for Google AdSense to support free hosting in the future. In preparation mode, no live ad scripts execute without a configured publisher ID.
When advertising is activated in production, Google and its partners may set cookies (such as the __gads or IDE cookies) to:
- Serve ads based on visits to this and other websites
- Prevent the same advertisement from appearing repeatedly
- Measure the performance and reach of advertising campaigns
4. Cookie Consent & Regulatory Compliance Status
Current Status: ToolNest does not currently operate active third-party tracking scripts. When commercial advertising is turned on, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) adhering to the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) will be integrated to present granular consent options to visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
We do not claim that full CMP consent management is presently active because live advertising scripts remain disabled.
5. How to Manage and Control Cookies
You can manage, restrict, or delete cookies at any time via your web browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Block all cookies
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
To opt out of personalized Google advertising across the web, visit Google Ads Settings. You may also utilize the Digital Advertising Alliance WebChoices tool.
6. Policy Updates & Contact
We will update this Cookie Policy whenever client-side storage or third-party analytics and advertising tools are modified. For inquiries, please visit our Contact Page or review our Privacy Policy.
